Meet Victor Knowles
Victor Knowles is founder and president of POEM (Peace on Earth Ministries), founded in Joplin, MO in 1992. POEM ‘s purpose is to challenge those who share the same religious heritage in the Restoration Movement to recognize one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and to reach out to all who believe on Christ through the Word. POEM has furthered its mission by networking with other ministries, sending monthly gifts to support literature work in Russia, leadership training in Cuba, evangelistic and humanitarian aid in Poland, and other Christian endeavors around the world in Ukraine, Belarus and India.
Since 1984 Victor has served as the only editor of One Body magazine, founded by the late Don DeWelt. Knowles holds three degrees from Midwestern School of Evangelism, is the author of 22 books, and was presented with the Distinguished Christian Service Award by Pepperdine University in 2011.
He has written for Christian Standard and The Lookout since 1980 and has had hundreds of articles published in about 40 different journals. From 1984 to 2007 he participated in the Restoration Forum, the longest-running unity meeting in the history of the Restoration Movement. Victor and his wife Evelyn were married in 1967 and have six children, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They have lived in the Joplin area since 1987.
